MONKEY MAJIK, a 4-piece rock band from Japan, will hold live and fan meetings at Bandai Namco Shanghai Cultural Center on October 19 and 20, respectively. Prior to the performance, we had the opportunity to hear from them about the Shanghai performance and their expectations for the upcoming 20th anniversary event next year.

The rock band Monkey Majik consists of brothers Maynard and Blaise Plant on vocals and guitarists, drummer Tax and bass Dick. Since her debut with "fly" in 2006, she has brought us familiar songs such as "Around The World" and "Empty はまるで". In March, they released their latest album, COLLABOLATED.

When I first came to Shanghai, everything was curious. We were deeply impressed by the architecture with a sense of age and the building with a sense of modernity. The people coming and going have a very cosmopolitan feel. I heard that the museum is very special, so I really want to have a look. This time, in addition to the seasonal delicacy hairy crabs, we also want to try the "skewer" that everyone is talking about.

In addition to new songs, we also included songs that we had previously wanted to perform but were not able to, and we carefully recorded the songs that fans wanted to hear.

While arranging these pieces, the content of the performance was carefully considered.

Next year, you will hold MONKEY MAJIK 20TH ANNIVERSARY ~ Flowers, birds and Moon ~ to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the foundation. Looking back on the past 20 years, what has kept you going so far? What's changed for everyone? What does not change?

The long-term support of our fans is undoubtedly our biggest motivation. Whenever we see fans singing and laughing with us, the happiness of "becoming a musician for this moment" comes naturally.

If there is any change, it means that we have become much more flexible in all aspects. Always stay true to yourself is always the same. As we approach our 20th anniversary, we are even more grateful to our fans and our staff who have always supported us. Thanks to all of you, we were able to create new music out of this feeling, and it's really blessed.

In March of this year, you released a new album "COLLABOLATED" for the first time in a year. His song ウマーベラス, which he collaborated with comedian SANDWICH MAN, was also popular on social media.

We created this song through the opportunity of making a theme song for their show. Since SANDWICH MAN is also from Sendai, we have always been on good terms, so we mentioned that we want to do it together. Since it was a great opportunity, I decided to sing together based on their stories.

On this album, we had the privilege of working with a wide variety of artists. How to give full play to each other's personality, style and trigger the ideal chemistry for both sides is particularly important to us. Since every artist liked it so much, we wanted to leave you with the idea that it was great to work together. It's hard to work together without having fun composing music.
