Sum 41 was formed in 1996 with lead vocalist and guitarist Deryck Whibley, guitarist Dave Baksh, guitarist Tom Thacker, bassist Cone McCaslin and drummer Frank Zummo.
With numerous classic hits such as "Still Waiting", "Over My Head", "The Hell Song", "With Me", "Fat Lip" and "Blood In My Eyes", Sum 41 has gained popularity around the world. It was hailed by the media as a pop punk rock group. In North America, in Europe, in China, in every corner of the world, Sum41's music is a hymn to youth, a great banner full of hormonal flavor.
In the 27-year history of the band, Sum41 has continued to write its own myths! The band started out as a teenage pop-punk band, and as they grew older and more experienced, they added more and more styles to their music: alternative rock, melodic hardcore and even heavy metal elements. Over 15 million records sold worldwide! Countless times on the Billboard Billboard charts! Grammy nomination for Best Rock, two Juno Awards (seven nominations), several AP Award nominations. Whether artistic achievement or commercial value, can be called the new century rock music gem.
"We're just a rock band, we do what we want to do." - says Deryck Whibley, the band's founder and its most consistent member for 27 years. He is also Avril Lavigne's ex-husband, whom he married in 2006 and divorced in 2010.
On May 8, 2023, without warning, Sum 41 announced on Instagram that they would be disbanding after completing their final global tour. This shocked music fans all over the world! Maybe that's the attitude of a rock band! Just like 27 years ago, they broke the ground on the music scene, now, they will be clean on the stage to say goodbye to everyone! Sing those unforgettable youth battle songs on the stage for the last time!
